Looking after what is yours. In our home we had certain age levels before the kids were allowed to do something. They weren't allowed to turn off the shower until they were old enough to understand that the hot tap goes first and then the cold. They weren't allowed to touch the kettle until they understood that they could get seriously hurt from the boiling water. They weren't allowed to change their own sheets or use the vacuum cleaner until they were a certain age. These mi

*Activity: No Electronic Devices* 'How in the world did we manage to accumulate so many devices in this house?' I asked my husband one afternoon. 'You know how it is, one at a time.' He replied while scrolling through his phone. 'Do you think that we should be selling some of them?' I asked. 'No, We could just give our old devices to the kids. Then they will all have their own. They can earn them.' He said. After thinking about it for a while,we agreed it was the best course

    Family Home

Helping around the house helps everyone. 'Mum, I don't want to do the dishes, none of my friends have to do chores in their house' My daughter complained. 'It doesn't really matter what other kids do in their homes, we help each other out. Every one uses the dishes therefore everyone has a turn to clean the dishes' I told her in a light conversational tone. Not saying anything else my Daughter continued to dry the dishes from the sink. When I was growing up and my parents wou

    ... She said Again

What to do when the Kids won't listen! 'Can you please turn down the volume?' I asked again. 'Do you mind turning the sound down?' Maybe asking a different way might get a response she thought. 'Hello? Can you hear me over that volume?' I said again, running out of patience and walking to the remote to turn off the screen. 'Muuum.' He whinged in a tone of disapproval. 'Sorry, but you couldn't hear what I was trying to say to you a moment ago and I thought turning it off might

    High Five Routine

*Activity: Incorporating a High Five in your home* "I looked down to my watch and found that we should be making our way to the car so we could head out of the house for school so I hollered a 5 minute warning. I could feel my patient start to run away with the kids last pair of shoes that seemed to have walked out the door. How did they disappear from last night to this morning I thought to myself and so had my keys. After finding only one shoe under the bed, I knew that we

    Love Starts Within

    * Activity: Letter to Self * "There was a whiff of Magic in the air as he walked into the room, the light shone through the far window enhancing his aura. A crooked smile held my gaze on his face awakening a longing to feel how soft and warm they would feel. His eyes drew me in further as they locked on to mine; I forgot to breath. We lost our connection for only a moment allowing me to shy away from the feelings that washed over me at that moment; I caught my breath. I could

September Update - Travel, Conference and Pitch.

The wait was finally over! I had spent much of my time in the last few weeks learning about how to present the perfect cold pitch for the conference I was going to attend. I read innumerable blog posts, watched every video I could find on the subject, attended the appropriate web-training events. I even asked the authors via email or Facebook what experiences they could share. Oh how my nerves were on edge. Although I had researched the best I could I still wasn't sure how it
