NOTES

  • Fell in love with stories when she was young and started writing when she was young.

  • Loved the different fantasy elements of the story she read as a child.

  • At 12 years old penned first novel - the five warriors. Wrote it all focusing on the action and the battles.

  • Wrote a series as a teenager.

  • Adores Nature and that play comes out in her stories.

  • Worldbuilding basics came from when she was a teenager built a solid foundation.

  • Still building it up and developing the world.

  • She drew a Map that filled in many of the details. Just for her eyes.

  • In almost every book there is a sea or large water that the characters have to cross.

  • Taken elements from other myths/lore and made them her own.

  • As she started writing there was still more to add. It is a huge mix of things. You learn what works for you as you go.

  • Creating your own audiobooks is fantastic because she loved the stories that she writes and would like to go back there.

  • Fantasy is favourite to write but loves reading mystery/thriller and suspense. It helps enhance the twists in her fantasy.

  • Would not want to live in the world because she loves technology. Just watch from the sidelines.

  • Even with the power out you would need to make adjustments in daily life.

  • Been building websites since 2012 and learned through building her site and assisting others. Also has experience in website development company. She wishes she knew some of these things when she started.

  • *Important to build an author platform is more than just for books. It helps connect with readers.

  • Mindfulness -

    • Shutting out all the noise

    • Don't reach for phone first thing in the morning.

    • Gratitude journal to write down thankful things during the day.

      • Now it's a habit. It was difficult to start but it is good now.

      • Focusing on the positive really helps to change the mindset.

      • Focus on the things that you can control! (Not the traffic)

    • Try not to be reactive - be proactive. Focus on one thing at a time.

    • Narrow focus instead of multitasting.

  • Goal going forward - So many plans! Plenty of books to look forward to.

  • Favourite trope is the Chosen one. Bringing the best out of the character.

  • Good verse evil always comes in.

  • Writer advice - Just get started. Nothing is going to be perfect the first time. Just get those words out there and create a habit.

    • You will learn as you go, just get those words onto the paper.

BUFFY NIGHT

Circe by Madeline Miller

Greek Mythology story. People may know Circe from the story the Odyssey. The perspective the gods have compared to mortals is so interesting. She lives 1000's of years. This book had an interesting appeal. It makes you think hard about it life and mortality. The perspective is from the Goddess Circe herself and how she is has her powers presented to her a little later in life.

Angela is sure that if it was told from a different angle then the story would be completely different.
